Voters attending a voting station will be required to present suitable Photo ID

Voters, including those acting as a proxy, must present a suitable form of photographic identification to the polling station staff when they collect a ballot paper. There is a prescribed list of accepted forms of ID which can be viewed on the Electoral Commission’s website.

If you present ID that is not on this list, the polling station staff will inform you that they are unable to accept it and will ask you to present suitable ID. You may be asked to return to the polling station later in the day if you do not have suitable ID with you.

If you do not own a suitable form of ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate. This can be used as identification when you attend the polling station. You can apply for a Voter Authority Certficate. The deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate is 5pm, Wednesday 24 April 2024.
