SES Water emergency work : Reigate A25

SES Water closed the A25 London Road at its junction with Hardwicke Road in Reigate earlier today to undertake urgent repairs to a leaking water main.

SCC Highways, following standard procedure, assessed the risks for road users, decided the work required a road closure and granted a licence for an initial period of 7 days to facilitate the repairs. For information, including the official diversion route visit the Roadworks map on the SCC website and scroll in.

Compass Travel have posted an alert which states “Service 32- London Road, Reigate- Emergency road closure-Buses will terminate at Black Horse before Reigate. Unfortunately we are unable to serve Redhill, Reigate and Earlswood until road reopens, we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause in this event out of our control

Please bear in mind that the 7 day term of the licence does not mean they have been able to confirm how long the work will take. The hope is that the work will be completed more quickly. However, until the team excavate the road an identify the scale of the problem the timescale will remain uncertain.

SES Water has informed SCC it is hopeful of having the repair complete and the road open by the early hours of Saturday morning (10/01/26); but caution this will depend upon the extent of the damage found once excavation begins.

SES Water update – Reigate road closure and supply disruption : January 9th – 6am

We are continuing emergency repair works in Reigate following a burst water main, which has resulted in some customers experiencing poor pressure or no water this morning.

Despite teams working through the night, a number of unforeseen complications meant repairs could not be completed as planned. Work was paused overnight due to the presence of an electrical cable within the excavation, which must be made safe before repairs can continue. We are awaiting attendance from UK Power Networks so our teams can resume work safely. UKPN teams were dealing with multiple incidents overnight following Storm Goretti.

We will continue delivering bottled water today to all customers who remain without supply and will continue to so daily.

The road will remain closed while we work with Surrey County Council and other partners to safely repair our pipe and associated road damage. A signed diversion remains in place starting from the A25 West Street towards Dorking. More information can be found here: https://one.network/?GB147709702

Once further progress is made, we will be able to confirm a timescale for restoring water supplies and reopening the road.

We apologise again for the disruption and thank customers for their continued patience.
