Reigate’s East Surrey Councillors encourage you to let the East Surrey Cabinet know your views on the Priory school future

The two East Surrey Councillors who represent Reigate have set up a substack to publicise their concern about SCC’s proposal to relocate Reigate Priory Junior School to Woodhatch Place. The posts on the substack outline the arguments against the move and conclude that East Surrey Council should not agree to SCC committing £30m taxpayer money to progress the relocation.

The latest post suggests that if enough people send a short email before Tuesday 13th October, the Priory Junior School may yet get to stay in the Park where most people in Reigate wish it to be.

TEN East Surrey councillors are being asked to decide the future of the Priory Junior School as early as next week. All were elected to the new unitary council in May and all promised “a fresh start” as compared to the legacy administrations they replace.

The ten do not know our area like we, your two East Surrey Councillors for Reigate do. Only one is from Reigate & Banstead (Horley). Four are from the Mole Valley area, three from Elmbridge and two from Epsom and Ewell.

Please consider writing to them in your own words saying why Reigate Priory Junior School at its present site is important to you.

Perhaps you are a parent or grandparent? Perhaps you attended to the Priory in your childhood? Perhaps you see the benefits of the school in the heart of our community in your daily life? Perhaps it is all of these things?

Emails for the ten are reproduced below.

The key point you should include in your message is to ask that is a full and fair review of the options at the Priory are considered before a Woodhatch Place works contract is signed. Read the substack posts to help frame your message.

There is no limit to the creativity that can be employed. If you are a parent and, for example, one or your children wants to write a letter by hand or paint a picture, then let them do so and send a photo of the results.

The most important thing is to act soon, e.g. by the end of the weekend. Thank you!
