SES Water emergency work : Reigate A25

SES Water closed the A25 London Road at its junction with Hardwicke Road in Reigate earlier today to undertake urgent repairs to a leaking water main.

SCC Highways, following standard procedure, assessed the risks for road users, decided the work required a road closure and granted a licence for an initial period of 7 days to facilitate the repairs. For information, including the official diversion route visit the Roadworks map on the SCC website and scroll in.

Compass Travel have posted an alert which states “Service 32- London Road, Reigate- Emergency road closure-Buses will terminate at Black Horse before Reigate. Unfortunately we are unable to serve Redhill, Reigate and Earlswood until road reopens, we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause in this event out of our control

Please bear in mind that the 7 day term of the licence does not mean they have been able to confirm how long the work will take. The hope is that the work will be completed more quickly. However, until the team excavate the road an identify the scale of the problem the timescale will remain uncertain.

SES Water has informed SCC it is hopeful of having the repair complete and the road open by the early hours of Saturday morning (10/01/26); but caution this will depend upon the extent of the damage found once excavation begins.

Update – Reigate road closure and supply disruption

Overnight, our team completed repairs to the broken section of pipe. Customer supplies were restored just before midnight. We are so sorry to customers who suffered a prolonged outage of their water supply and thank you for your patience whilst we worked through this complicated repair.

The road will remain shut over the weekend whilst our teams continue to work to repair the road. A signed diversion is in place, details of which can be found at https://one.network/?GB147709702. Local diversion routes are also available.

Our teams are on site this morning working to repair the road. You will see us removing broken sections of road and filling parts of the site with stone and concrete. This concrete will take time to cure before we can continue with the next phase of the repairs tomorrow.

We once again apologise for the disruption to our customers and thank you for your patience.
