Surrey Fire and Rescue ask for your help to reduce the risk of wildfires
Surrey Fire & Rescue Service and Buckinghamshire & Surrey Trading Standards have published a short set of Q&As to help residents and businesses understand the Government’s temporary restrictions on disposable BBQ sales and the continued wildfire risk during the current dry conditions.
The Q&As explain what the ban means, how residents can help reduce the risk of wildfires, and when to call 999.
Residents are being urged to avoid any activity that could start a fire, including disposable BBQs, bonfires, campfires and fireworks, and to call 999 immediately if they see a fire in the open.
Chief Fire Officer, Dan Quin, who also leads Buckinghamshire & Surrey Trading Standards said: “We welcome the ban on the sale of disposable BBQs, however a lot more basic behaviour change needs to happen to help prevent wildfires – such as taking litter home, disposing of cigarettes properly and not holding bonfires and campfires.
“Nationally, we have seen a record number of wildfires this year already and we all need to play our part to prevent them.”
