The People’s Emergency Briefing – Facing up to Climate Change

In November 2025, the National Emergency Briefing brought together leading experts to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis to politicians and other influential people in Westminster. That evidence is now on the public record. The People’s Emergency Briefing is a film based on the National Emergency Briefing held for MPs and journalists in Westminster, with reactions from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, Jennifer Saunders and a range of voices from across the UK. 

Betchworth Parish Council, reBetchworth and 4Bs Biodiversity Group are extending an invitation to residents living across the 4Bs of Buckland, Betchworth, Brockham and Boxhill to attend a screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing. The briefing is described as an eye-opening 50-minute film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence on climate change and why extreme weather matters for things like food security, health and the cost of living.

Following the film, your hosts will lead an open discussion on the practical actions we can take to mitigate the effects of climate change, protect our environment and our future – both individually and across our community.

Several Buckland Parish Councillors plan to attend the event and your parish council will be interested to receive any feedback you wish to share following the event.

The list of future screenings includes events at Headley Village Hall (24th September) and several venues across Reigate and Redhill during October. You can book a space at any event listed as public …..depending upon the location you select you may find the post screening discussion not as directly relevant but will still have the opportunity to gather learning points to bring back and share more locally.
