Surrey residents invited to apply for a share of the record funding secured by SCC to help reduce home energy costs
Surrey County Council has been awarded £13.9 million of Government funding to help residents living in fuel poor homes to save money, conserve energy and make homes more energy efficient. The Warm Homes: Local Grant scheme (WHLG) is funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and has assigned Surrey the largest allocation the county council has ever received, as a result of the impressive delivery for similar schemes previously.
The scheme will run over three years and can be used to fund measures including different insulation types, draughtproofing, low energy lighting, Solar PV and low carbon heat sources such as an air source heat pump, hybrid heat pumps or a biomass boiler.
The (WHLG) is now live for Surrey residents. Eligible residents may apply for up to £15,000 of fabric and energy measures, and a further £15,000 for low carbon heating solutions. To be eligible, residents must:
- Have an Energy Performance Rating of D or below (check at this Gov.uk site by entering postcode)
- have a household income of below £36,000, or be on means-tested benefits (which includes Child Tax Credits and Pension Credits)
The only way SCC can secure additional funds is if SCC can demonstrate all the grant has been used, so please spread the word and make sure as many homes as possible receive support. Find more guidance and the online application form on this Surrey County Council webpage.
Eligible residents can express an interest in the scheme by contacting the SCC Energy Team or calling the contact centre on 01483 404505
