Going Greener

When Buckland Parish Council met in November 2020, Council resolved to “actively think about climate change in every action Council takes by Councillors incorporating consideration of climate change into their everyday thinking” rather than rush to launch any specific initiatives at this time and recorded “an interest in any future initiatives our neighbouring parishes and statutory councils might be championing with a climate change or environmental theme“.

This “Going Greener” section of our village website is the place we highlight steps our community is taking to contribute to the district and county wide efforts. Updates are published within parish news before being stored in a “Going Greener News Archive“.

Anyone keen to champion a “Going Greener” initiative is encouraged to provide details to our webmaster.

Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) declared a climate emergency in June 2019 and pledged to make their operations carbon neutral by 2030. Visit the “Environment and Sustainability” section of the MVDC website to learn more.

Surrey County Council (SCC) has also declared a climate emergency that includes a 2050 target date for the county becoming carbon neutral. Read more about SCC’s Climate Change Strategy.
