Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic Order 2024

On 31 May 2024 Surrey County Council will make the above mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along Public Bridleway 474 (Buckland) from point A (Grid ref: 522860 151962) in a South Westerly direction for 149 metres to point B (Grid ref: 522714 151923) shown as a solid line on plan ref 3/1/40/H11.

The Order is necessary in in the interest of public safety due to contractors installing a new water main. The closure will be in operation for a period of three months from 3 June 2024 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route for traffic from point A is to head North East for 120 Metres on Public Bridleway 474 (Buckland), then head generally north for 376 metres on to Public Bridleway 478 (Buckland). Walkers should then head generally West on Public Footpath 476 (Buckland) for 741 metres, then head South East on Buckland Lane for 673 metres to point B. Equestrians and cycle users should then follow Bridleway 478 (Buckland) and 477 (Buckland) in a generally westerly direction to meet Public Byway 479 (Buckland) where you turn to travel in a South Easterly direction to meet Buckland Lane and continue in a south easterly direction to point B.

The alternative route for traffic from point B will be the reverse of the route described above.
